Enrupture (2002)

Painting (oil on canvas); 16" x 20"

Here's a wild one. Sort of played it by ear on this. An early experiment in abstract painting. It remains many people's favorite piece of my "collection," but not mine. Which reminds me: the tastes/perspectives of the artist often differ from those of the outside observer. Obviously there is some overlap, but when the two parties are worlds apart in opinion, I suspect it stems from the mystery -- or lack thereof -- of how a piece of art, or a song, or a performance, etc. came to be.To use an analogy, ever notice how much better a meal tastes when someone else prepares it compared to when you do? I rest my case.
